Wanna fly…

…then visit the Grand Central Airport in Midrand.

Kevin and Debby arranged a tour for a bunch of homeschoolers in December 2012.  A fun outing to end the school year!

Homeschool outing

Marched from one end of the airport to the other.

We were given a thorough overview of the goings-on at the airport, which left the homeschoolers exhausted after a day of marching from one end of the airport to the other.

Homeschoolers at airport

Hello world!

We viewed the control tower, light airplanes and helicopters that looked more like limosines than anything else.

One has to enjoy a scrumptious lunch at The Harvard Cafe situated next to the runway where one can view airplanes and helicopters taking off.

Homeschool “take-over” of the evac helicopter

The evac helicopter was under siege!

The pilot of the emergency helicopter used for medical evacuations in the Joburg/Pretoria area allowed us to have a good look around this aircraft.

Even moms can be pilots!

The kids were pranked by the chief fire officer when he hosed them down with a fire hose whilst explaining the role of the fire station at Grand Central Airport.

The kids were listening intently not suspecting anything.

The chief fire officer was busy aiming the hose towards them.

Wet, wet, wet – time to go home.
